Jeera Rice/ Cumin Rice
I usually cook jeera rice with palak mushrooms, palak paneer and pepper chicken. Jeera/ cumin is good for digestion.
I usually don’t add any spices like cardamom, cloves like restaurants receipe. I prefer to keep it simple because usually my side dish with jeera rice will be full of spices.
I used pressure cooker, you can use normal cooking pan also. I used butter, you use oil or ghee also. But butter or ghee gives different flavour, which I like it a lot.
1. Basumati Rice - 1 cup
2. 2 tablespoon of jeera/cumin
3. 15 cashewnuts
4. 2 tablespoon of butter/ghee
5. Salt to taste
6. Water - 2 cup
Wash basmati rice and soak it for 30 minutes, then drain all the water
In a pressure cooker, heat the butter. Keep the flame to a low and add jeera.
Add cashews once the jeera turns brownies
Fry cashews until little golden colour
Add the rice and mix properly
Add water and mix again. Then add the salt
Cover the pressure cooker for 1 whistle on medium flame. When the pressure settles down on its own, then remove the pressure cooker lid..
Serve hot with side dish.
